"I have a variety of names," replied the cat. It had a strange voice, half-mew, half-purr, with hissing on the vowels. "You may call me Mogget. As to what I am, I was once many things, but now I am only several. Primarily, I am a servant of Abhorsen. Unless you would be kind enough to remove my collar?"


Mogget- for that is the only name he will give you- is, by all appearances, a small, white cat wearing a red collar. From that collar dangles a small, silver bell, uncommonly sweet in sound. Just a cat. It might, perhaps, be unusual for a cat to talk, or for his green eyes to occasionally seem to have flames in their depths, but Mogget's not telling.
